We are a full service baseball and softball facility!  We have some of the most qualified instructors for both baseball and softball in the state of Maine!   We pride ourselves in providing the very best coaching at a reasonable price.

GROUP LESSONS - Do you know of a small group that is looking to work together? We are now offering 60 Minute group lessons for 2-4 players per session.  See prices / packages below.

Colton Lawrence

Attended Mt Blue High School, graduated in 2015. Colton was a four year starter during his high school career and was a three time 1st and 2nd team All-Conference player, as well as a two time 1st and 2nd team All State player. Colton was named to the 2014-15 All USA Maine Baseball Team. He went on to play at the University of Southern Maine, under legendary Coach Ed Flaherty. Colton pitched four years as an end game reliever for the Huskies. Leading the team in lowest ERA as a sophomore. Colton pitched in multiple LEC Conference Tournaments, NCAA Regional Tournaments and 1 Super Regional for USM.  He finished his career with a 6-0 record, 98.2 innings and a 3.47 ERA . Colton is 8th all time in USM Baseball history for appearances. Colton was also the Pitching Coach for Thornton Academy High School in 2021, when the program won the conference championship. 

Colton is the General Manager at Hitters Count Training Facility and the Showcase Director for the Southern Maine River Rats. Colton specializes in both Baseball Pitching and Hitting. 


Alex Mckenney

Alex played high school baseball at Hampden Academy where he went on to pitch D1 baseball at the University of Maine. Alex contributed both as an offensive player and pitcher. 

Following the 2021 season, Alex signed a professional contract with the Philadelphia Phillies. In his first professional stint, he finished out the year with a 1.56 ERA, while only allowing 10 hits in 17.1 innings pitched. 

During his time in professional baseball, Alex had the chance to learn from some of the best pitching minds in baseball. 


Gage Feeney

Originally from Cutler, Maine and attended Washington Academy High School. From there, Gage went on to pitch at the University of Maine before transferring down to the University of Southern Maine to finish his career.

A two-time All-Little East Conference selection. During his four years with the Huskies, Feeney posted a record of 21-6 and had a career earned run average of 4.06. Making 49 appearances for USM, Feeney pitched 208.1 career innings, and totaled 158 strikeouts. As a senior in 2021, Feeney helped the Huskies to the 2021 Little East Conference Championship and pitched five strong relief innings in the championship title game a 7-6 win over USM.

 After USM, Gage was selected as the second overall pick in the 2022 Frontier League Draft. Picked by the league's Joliet Slammers, the Frontier League is in its 29th season, and is the largest and longest running Major League Baseball Professional League Partner.


Athena Lavigne

Athena joined the Rats organization in 2019, and has coached at the 10U and 12U level.  Growing up playing the sport, she graduated from Bonny Eagle High School in 2002, where she played varsity softball from her Sophomore to Senior year.  She went on to play D-3 softball at Elms College in Chicopee, MA where she earned the GNAC most improved player for her Freshman season.  After her sophomore year, she had to leave Elms and returned home to Maine where she finished up her bachelor’s degree at Husson College in paralegal studies.  

Athena has been coaching with her local little league in the Bonny Eagle area for the past five years, both as a head coach and assistant coach for ages from tee-ball through majors. Most recently she was the assistant coach to the 2023 Maine All-Star team which finished #2 in the Northeast Region during the Little League Regional Tournament. She joined the Rats as a head coach for the 10U squad in fall 2021, and became director in February 2022. Athena is passionate about the sport of softball and shares that passion with her players and anyone who will listen.   


Andrew Olszak

Only repeat Salem News Baseball Player of the Year led Danvers to two straight state finals in 2014-15. 90-plus career hits, scored 90-plus runs and stole 80-plus bases. Also led the area in innings pitched two straight years, tying the Danvers High all-time wins record at 28 and being the pitcher of record an in absurd nine consecutive state playoff games.Played four years at Danvers High School for Roger Day ... Three-time Salem News all-star ... Team MVP as a junior and senior ... Twice All-Scholastic ... Hit .476 and had 36 steals in his junior year ... Had 25 career pitching wins. Andrew also played travel ball for the Legends Prospects. 

Andrew then went on to USM where he had himself quite the career. Andrew worked as an instructor at Extra Innings in Middleton ,MA while he was home from College.

As a Freshman was Twice named Little East Conference Rookie of the Week (3/20/17 and 5/8/17) ... Named to the all-tournament team at the NCAA Regional ... Played in all 47 games batting .314 (58 for 185) with 13 doubles, one triple and 34 RBI ... Batted .462 (12 for 26) with a double and six RBI in the NCAA Regional Tournament ... Had 17 multiple-hit games, including a team-high four four-hit games, and eight multi-RBI games ... Had a 10-game hitting streak batting .486 (18 for 37) ... Named North Shore Baseball League Rookie of the Year playing for the Beverly Recs ... Named to the NSBL All-League and All-Rookie teams ... Batted .407 (33 for 81) over 24 games

In 2019 Andrew was a ABCA/Rawlings Division III New England All-Region third team ... D3baseball.com New England All-Region third team ... All-LIttle East Conference first team at shortstop ...

In 2021 he was Named to the ABCA/Rawlings NCAA Division III New England All-Region second team ... Picked for the All-Little East Conference second team

 


Joe Borowski

Meet Joe Borowski!  Joe comes to Hitters Count with a wealth of playing and coaching experience.   Originally from New York, Joe played at Castleton University for 4 years and starting in each of those years as a catcher.  He was a large part of the team's 2 Conference Championships and received All Conference Honors 3 times while being named 3rd Team All New England in 2014.  

He continued his playing career in the Pecos League of Professional Baseball in New Mexico (an independent league).  He played over 120 games spending time at catcher, first base and third base.  He led the team in home runs and RBI's during his tenure here. 

Joe has a love for baseball and after his playing days, he became a well-respected coach in New York.  He was an assistant coach for an 18U American Legion Team, Assistant coach for the Schenectady Varsity Baseball team and was the assistant manager for Upstate Premier Sports.  He completed Hitting, Fielding and Catching instruction at Upstate Premier Sports. 


Caden Horton

We would like to welcome Caden Horton to the Hitters Count staff. Caden is a South Portland native and a graduate of the University of Southern Maine. Caden specializes in both Catching and Hitting. 

Caden is a head coach in the SMRR program and also the Head Coach for South Portland's Junior Varsity team. Caden is very passionate about the game and we are very excited to have him join.

Cam Seymour

Attended Thornton Academy High School, where he graduated in 2019.  Under Coach Jason Lariviere he was an all conference honorable mention and was selected as the recipient of the Merrill S. Harrington Award by the Western Maine Board of Baseball Umpires. Cam hit .346 for Thornton Academy as a senior. Cam also played for the Southern Maine River Rats and Hitters Count Select teams. 

Cam went on to play for Ed Flaherty at the University of Southern Maine and had himself an outstanding Freshman & Sophomore year. Named to the ABCA/Rawlings Division III All-America second team at DH ... Selected to CoSIDA Division III Baseball Academic All-America second team ... Voted to the ABCA/Rawlings NCAA Division III New England All-Region first team at designated hitter ... Named the D3baseball.com New England Region Rookie of the Year and to the All-Region first team at designated hitter ... Selected the Little East Conference Rookie of the Year and all-conference first team designated hitter ... Had three doubles in one game for the second time this season against Plymouth State... Selected as the Little East Conference Rookie of the Week... In three conference games, batted .462 (6-13) with five runs scored, three doubles, one home run and four RBI ... Became the 20th player in school history to have three doubles in a single game against Keene State... Named NCBWA (National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association) Rookie of the Week... Just the third USM player to receive a NCBWA weekly award ... Named Little East Conference Rookie of the Week... In four games, batted .588 (10 for 17) with six runs scored, two doubles, three home runs and 11 RBI in four games ... Became the fifth player in school history to hit three home runs in a single game against UMass Dartmouth.

Cam has also spent his summers playing in the some of the top collegiate summer leagues in the country.
