Private Instruction Information and Reservations

 

We are a full service baseball and softball facility!  We have some of the most qualified instructors for both baseball and softball in the state of Maine!   We pride ourselves in providing the very best coaching at a reasonable price. 

We have instructors for all phases of the game;

If you have worked with these instructors before and/or you know who you want for training, you can contact them directly.  Each instructor has their contact information listed below.  If you are getting instruction for the first time and unsure who you want, the easiest way to get availability of the instructors is to contact Marcus Crowell at marcus@hittersctf.com or you can  call us at 207-494-7062 during our normal business hours or simply come into our facility (OA Performance Center, 15 Lund Road, Saco ME 04072). 

Instructors

Colton Lawrence

Attended Mt Blue High School, graduated in 2015. Colton was a four year starter during his high school career and was at three time 1st and 2nd team All-Conference player as well as a two time 1st and 2nd team All State player. Was named to the 2014-15 All USA Maine Baseball Team. Went on to play at the University of Southern Maine. Pitched four years as an end game reliever for the Huskies. Leading the team in lowest ERA as a sophomore. Colton pitched in multiple LEC Conference Tournaments and NCAA Regional Tournaments for USM.

Colton is on his 3rd year in the River Rats Program. Over the years Colton has run and helped out multiple youth baseball camps/clinics. Specializing in both Baseball Pitching and Fielding.

Marcus Crowell

*  Marcus was an All conference/ All State baseball player at Biddeford High school and went on to play collegiately for coach Sanborn at Saint Joseph's college.

*  As a coach, Marcus has experience instructing players at the youth, middle school and high school level. He spent the last two seasons as the Head Coach for the Biddeford Middle School Baseball program.

*  Marcus was a coach on the 2015, 11/12 yr old Biddeford Little League All star team that won a State Championship and advanced to the Little League World Series eastern regional tournament in Bristol, CT.

*  In his first season as Manager for the Southern Maine River Rats Baseball Program, he lead the team to the 2016 Elite Baseball League Regional Championship game. Coach Crowell and his staff also helped send five players to the 2016 Elite Baseball League All Star game at Umass Lowell.

*  He also managed the 12U Southern Maine River Rats baseball team that won the 2016 Beast of the North East Tournament Championship.

*  Marcus is one of the most well-rounded instructors on our staff and he able to provide private hitting, catching and baseball pitching lessons! 

Drew Healey

Attended Spaulding High School in Rochester, NH graduating in 2016.  He played two years of varsity baseball under Coach Paul George.  He was a first team All State player and Golden Bat winner his Junior year.  He also won Defensive Player of the Year after his Senior season.  Drew went on to play at St. Joseph's College of Maine where he played both first and second base for the Monks.  He was a 3rd team All GNAC player his Junior season.  Drew was having a tremendous Senior year, leading the team in hitting, before the season was cut short due to the COVID 19 pandemic.   He will be returning to the Monks in the spring of 2021 to finish his Senior year while pursuing his MBA in Business Administration.  

Julie Roy

Julie is a graduate of Niagara University and South Portland High School and is one of the very few former Division I college softball players currently coaching in Maine.  Julie also coaches the SM River Rats 18U Softball Showcase team.

Julie graduated from South Portland High School in 2008 and compiled lofty statistics and several awards. Her senior year she completed the season with a 0.53 ERA. She was Forecaster 2008 Spring player of the year, awarded MVP Senior for class A, and three year All-state 1st team for pitcher & first base. 

After her stellar high school career, Julie took her considerable talents to Niagara University and continued to perform at a high level.  Julie threw two no-hitters, led her team in wins, complete games, strikeouts, and innings pitched and was named second team all-conference (MAAC) and also to the conference (MAAC) all-tournament team. Julie holds the record for NU’s single-season record for the most wins in a season. 

Travis Demmons

Travis will be entering his third year as the Director of Softball for the River Rats and his fourth year of coaching within the program.  He has been with our program since the inception of softball and, as Director, has led us to adding several teams on an annual basis. 

Travis is currently an Assistant Softball Coach at St. Joseph's College and is the former Windham High School Varsity Head Coach.  In his four seasons at Windham, his teams compiled a 48-27 record with four straight playoff appearances after a seven year playoff drought at Windham.  Prior to coaching at WHS, Travis was the head coach at Windham Middle School and has spent several seasons coaching at the Little League level. 

Travis played baseball for twelve years culminating with his Bangor High School team winning the 1994 State Championship.  Travis’ passion for the game, attention to detail, connections within the industry, and leadership are huge assets to our organization! 

Heather Fecteau

Heather attended Biddeford High School and played Field Hockey, Basketball, and Softball. A member of the Varsity Softball program for 4 seasons, she was an All-SMAA player during her sophomore, junior, and senior seasons. Heather continued her softball career at Western New England University, in Springfield Massachusetts; where she was a 4-year starter at first base. Heather was named to the All- Conference Team during her junior and senior seasons and was part of WNE’s 1st CCC Conference Title in 2015. Following her undergraduate degree, Heather worked as an Assistant Coach with the WNE Softball team, and was part of the staff that won the CCC Title again in 2018. During her time on the WNE Staff she was responsible for practice planning, infield defensive mechanics/skills and worked 1 on 1 with some of the top hitters in the program. Heather resides in Kennebunk and works as a pharmacist within CVS.

Dave Walsh

David Walsh begins his second season as Head Coach of the SeaWolves Baseball program. Walsh was hired in the fall of 2018 as an assistant and was then elevated to head coach to begin the 2019 spring season. In his first year at the helm, Walsh compiled a 19-4 record, helped the program to its fourth consecutive conference title, and received an at-large bid to the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) Small College World Series after an eight-year hiatus. Walsh's team led the country in on-base percentage and earned run average helping produce two USCAA All-Americans in 2019.

A Massachusetts native, Walsh graduated from Husson University in 2007 with a degree in Sport Management. He played and worked four seasons under long-time coach John Winkin and is a product of his philosophy. Winkin won 1,043 games at the collegiate level and was elected to the National College Baseball Hall of Fame.

Following his playing career, Walsh returned to his alma mater to be named Head Varsity Baseball Coach at Fenway High School (Boston, Mass.). There he amassed 63 wins, qualified for five MIAA State Tournaments, and collected two Coach of the Year awards in his six-year term, 2011-17.

Prior to SMCC, Walsh served as a Coach and Player Developer at Sluggers Academy (Medfield, Mass.), Associate Head Coach and Recruiting Coordinator at Pine Manor College (Brookline, Mass.), and Head Baseball Manager and Recruiting Coordinator for the Bancroft Bandits (Bancroft, Iowa).

Fred Wilcox

Fred is the current Windham High School Varsity Head Coach after serving several years as the Windham High School Assistant Coach and Windham Middle School Head Coach.  He has accumulated several years of experience coaching at the ASA levels for multiple local ASA organizations - this is his third year with the Southern Maine River Rats. 

Prior to coaching at the ASA, Middle School and High School levels, Fred spent several years coaching for Windham Little League and served on the Windham Little League board.

Fred is the owner of AAA Chem-Dry - a national carpet and upholstery cleaning company.

Along with his wife, Natalie, and two daughters, Chloe and Ella, Fred resides in Windham.

Jason Lariviere

*  He was a three sport athlete playing football, basketball and baseball. 

*  Jason went to the University of Southern Maine to play baseball from 1992-1995.  During his career at USM, he participated in the division III World Series, earned All-America Honors his junior and senior years and still holds many offensive records.

*  Jason was drafted in the 1995 Amateur Baseball Draft by the St. Louis Cardinals.  He spent five years in the Cardinal organization spending his last year in AAA with the Memphis Redbirds.  During his professional career, Jason was named to the 1998 AA All-Star team, he recieved Memphis Redbird Defensive Player of the year in 1999 and led the Redbirds in many offensive categories.

*  Jason was also inducted into the Maine Hall of Fame in the summer of 2014!
